MY

SNAILS

ACHATINIDAE

Achatina sweinfurthii var. simulans

I purchased those wild-caught snails in Hamm (03/2015). The debate is still going on thought whether this is really a. sweinfurthii or just a. balteata with unusual green coloring. There was just one test clutch of about 10 eggs but that was it. Now I have only one snail from the original group of 4.

GENERATION: WC

ORIGIN: Mbandaka, Congo

CURRENT SIZE: 10-13 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 1

Achatina tincta black stripe

These highly attractive snails were imported to the Czech Rep. from Austria. I still have the original F1 breeding group. In addition, I have kept 4 of the offspring (F2). Eventhough 2015 was a very successful year (about 50 nice and strong babies), in 2016 I haven't had a single clutch.

GENERATION: F1 | F2

CURRENT SIZE: 8-9 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 3 | 4

Achatina tincta brown stripe

I purchased 8 of those snails in Hamm (03/2015). Shell coloring varies from highly contrasting stripes to just subtle marbling. I still have a half of the original WC breeding group but I also kept some F1.

Same as with the black striped version, I was very succesful in breeding in 2015 (cca 50 strong and healthy offspring), but in 2016 there was only 1 clutch.

GENERATION: WC | F1

ORIGIN: Congo

CURRENT SIZE: 7-9 cm | 6cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 4 | 5

Achatina tincta green (no stripe)

I purchased those snails in Hamm (03/2015), only 1 from the original breeding group is still alive and well.

As with all my tinctas: 2015 was a very succesful year (30 healthy and strong babies), 2016 not so much (only 1 clutch from F1). When it comes to F1 offspring, there were two color variations - greener with white apex and more towards brown with red/pink apex.

GENERATION: F0 | F1

ORIGIN: Congo

CURRENT SIZE: 8-10 cm | 5cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 1 | 6

Archachatina sp. Cameroon albino body (?)

I purchased these snails in Hamm (03/2016) as unidentified species. I have several grown offspring now, which however did not help much with the ID. The latest guess is archachatina boettgeri.

GENERACE: WC | F1

ORIGIN: Cameroon

CURRENT SIZE: 8 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 2 | 6

Archachatina sp. Cameroon dark body (?)

I purchased these snails in Hamm (03/2016) also as unidentified species. I have several grown offspring now, which however did not help much with the ID - since they look nothing like their parents :). They are however quite lovely snails (I call them "Cherry snails" because when they hatch, they are all dark red) so I kept 6 of F1 to become my feature breeding group.

GENERACE: WC | F1

ORIGIN: Cameroon

CURRENT SIZE: 8 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 2 | 6

Archachatina marginata egregia "two tone"

Sometimes call the "true egregia" since there are many snails labelled egregia out there, which are in fact another species (they lack the characteristic yellow half-moon on the bottom of their shell). My F1 babies arrived from Holland in August 2016. I also purchased some wild-caught ones in Germany in late spring 2017 - I have one own F1 baby so far and I really hope for more :)

GENERATION: WC | F1

CURRENT SIZE: 6 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 5 | 2

Archachatina marginata ovum "XXL"

I got these gigantic snails in Hamm in June. Ovum was definitely not on my shopping list but when I saw those "monsters", I couldn't resist - 17 cm and 640g! Just recently they started laying eggs - all offspring are strong and heatlhy. See the section FOR SALE regarding availability.

GENERATION: WC

ORIGIN: Nigeria

CURRENT SIZE: 16-17 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 3

Archachatina purpurea albino body

My passion - "green snails". I had to wait for these beauties half a year but they were sure worth it. Some people however think that these are in fact archachatina ventricosa albino body. Babies are available in section FOR SALE most of the time - the parents are extremely productive :).

GENERATION: F2 | F3

SIZE: 9 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 2 | 1

Archachatina puylaerti dark body

Yes, again - my passion "green snails". I have gotten those guys from my friend in France. They are quite common but a shell this green I have never seen in my life. I simply had to have them :)

GENERATION: F?

SIZE: 6 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 4

Archachatina rhodostoma albino body

These 2 guys were bought in St. Pölten (03/2015). Some people think that they are in fact archachatina purpurea. They did breed quite well at the beginning but in the last year, there were only two babies. I guess they are just too old now. I have kept 5 of the F1 babies though to start a new breeding group and already have some babies. Check the section FOR SALE regarding availability.

GENERATION: WC | F1

ORIGIN: Togo

CURRENT SIZE: 8 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 2 | 5

Archachatina ventricosa dark body

One of those two imported snails that I bought in Germany in 2016 was my no.1 favorite of all times - huge, beautiful and cuddly (if it is possiblle to use this word when talking about a snail :D). Both however died in about 6 months leaving 2 clutches behind. I have kept some of the babies and laso purchased 2 more unrelated in Germany to start a new breedig group.

GENERATION: F1

ORIGIN: Togo (as stated by the importer)

CURRENT SIZE: 10-12 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 5

Lissachatina craveni

Another fresh addition to my collection - these snails arrived in August from Holland. They all ended up dying within 2 weeks but managed to leave some pretty babies behind. I have already ordered some more from Belgium so improve my new breeding group.

GENERATION: F?

CURRENT SIZE: 4 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 4

Lissachatina fulica var. caramel

I really love this caramel variety of fulica and because it is not-so-usual it was quite hard to get them. They took some time but they finally started laying eggs. I also added a couple more unrelated snails from Germany to my breeding group to improve genetic variaty and hopefully the quality of offspring.

GENERATION: F?

CURRENT SIZE: 8 cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 5

Lissachatina immaculata "two tone"

I just love the "two tone" snails :) I have bought these bauties in Germany and I really hope they will do well (they are not all that easy species to keep).

GENERATION: F?

CURRENT SIZE: 6cm

QUANTITY (pcs): 8
